After half a century, the endangered ˊUaˊu, also known as the Hawaiian Petrel (Pterodroma sandwichensis) has been found on Maunakea thanks to acoustic recorders deployed by the LOHE lab in collaboration with the Office of Maunakea Management at the University of Hawaiˊi at Hilo.
Hawaiˊi Forest & Trail has donated $25,000 to the University of Hawaiˊi at Hilo Biology Department to support research and technologies to reduce mosquito populations and suppress the spread of avian diseases in Hawaiˊi.
