My research focuses on understanding the distribution of plants, plant associations, and diversity. I'm particularly interested in spatio-temporal dynamics of forests in response to natural or anthropogenic disturbances in tropical Pacific Islands. After six years in New Caledonia, I'm currently based at the University of Hawai`i at Hilo to study spatio-temporal variations in vegetation structure and composition of United States National Parks in Hawai`i and American Samoa. In collaboration with the National Park Service, I analyze data collected over the last ten years in the framework of the Pacific Island Inventory & Monitoring Network. I aim to help to identify conservation priorities to optimize management efforts facing global changes including global warming, alien species invasions or changes in disturbance regime.
